At Turnaround Foundation, our mission is to provide unwavering support, empowerment, and healing to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. We are committed to creating a safe and compassionate environment where survivors can find solace, regain control over their lives, and build a future free from abuse.
Our primary objective is to offer a safe and inclusive space for survivors of domestic violence, providing them with shelter, counseling, and educational resources. We strive to empower survivors, assisting them in reclaiming their lives, healing from trauma, and building a future free from abuse.
In recognition of the interconnectedness of social issues, we extend our mission beyond domestic violence to address the urgent needs of those experiencing homelessness. We understand that access to basic necessities, including food, plays a vital role in restoring dignity and facilitating the path to stability. By integrating feeding programs into our services, we ensure that the immediate needs of both survivors and homeless individuals are met, fostering a compassionate and holistic approach to support.
At The Turnaround Foundation, We embrace diversity and inclusivity, recognizing that domestic violence knows no boundaries of race, gender, age, or socioeconomic status. We honor each survivor's unique journey and strive to meet their individual needs with empathy, non-judgment, and cultural sensitivity.
Together, with our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters, we work tirelessly to transform lives, foster healing, and create a future where domestic violence is eradicated. We envision a society where every individual can live in safety, dignity, and peace, breaking free from the chains of abuse and building a brighter tomorrow.
Our mission is clear: to provide hope, healing, and a path to a violence-free life for all survivors of domestic violence.
The Turnaround Foundation has a rich history rooted in a deep commitment to addressing social issues and domestic violence Our journey began March 2019, after our Founder, Tamika Rouse received a vision from God to go to the Kmart on Gordon Highway in her hometown of Augusta GA and feed those experiencing homelessness. Every Saturday, Tamika and her children would pass out brown paper bagged lunches along with a Gospel track and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
From there, she started providing clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene items. After realizing how much of an impact she made, Tamika began preparing full course meals every Sunday and also providing transportation for those who needed it. Passionate about serving, and bringing together her community, Tamika began having food drives every Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
Tamika's passion for becoming and advocate for domestic violence survivors unfortunately stems from a dark history of seeing domestic violence firsthand. Growing up in an abusive home fueled with drug addiction and alcohol abuse, Tamika lost her mother to domestic violence though she sought assistance from local shelters..
After internalizing all the trauma and abuse, Tamika began repeating the cycle and developing drug addictions. While looking to escape the horrors of domestic violence ,Tamika found herself suffering from a physical and mentally abusive relationship. After 5 years, Tamika decided to escape her abuser and create a life of her own and a beautiful foundation for other domestic violence survivors seeking safety and support.
Present day, Tamika is preparing to open a shelter in honor of her Mother Called "Sebrenia's haven" empowering and educating her community about the power of self-love and domestic violence awareness.
